10-subject limit for SPM from next year
From next year, students sitting for the SPM examinations will only be allowed to sit for a maximum of 10 subjects. The grading system for the examination will also be improved to better reflect the academic achievements of the students.
Education Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the ministry decided to do away with the open certificate system, which allows students to sit for as many subjects, as the majority only took 10 subjects or fewer.
“Records show that some 90% of students sitting for the SPM exam take 10 or fewer subjects,” the Deputy Prime Minister told reporters after laying the foundation stone for the new RM1.3bil Education Com-plex at Bandar Enstek yesterday .
“We want to streamline this as it will also be an easier way to determine the awarding of scholarships.” Some 450,000 students sat for the SPM exam last year. Muhyiddin said teachers would also be able to focus better if students were only allowed to take up to 10 subjects because they would not be burdened with teaching other subjects.
“Parents also will not have to rush their children for too many tuition classes.”

Untuk taklimat pertama ini, Encik Harun Haji Johari (CEO IRDA) beserta beberapa orang pegawai kanannya telah memberi taklimat mengenai perlaksanaan pelan terperinci keselamatan dan kesejahteraan di Iskandar Malaysia.
Selain tajuk keselamatan, tajuk procument juga telah ditaklimatkan kepada kami .Selain Dato’ Shahrir, Adun Tanjung Puteri (YB Adam Sumiru) juga bersama dalam taklimat ini dan insyaallah taklimat selanjutnya akan dilakukan pada masa akan datang.

Indonesian Hercules crashes in East Java, 78 confirmed dead
JAKARTA, Wed:
Seventy-eight people were confirmed dead when an Indonesian air force’s Hercules C-130 aircraft, with about 130 people onboard, plunged into a housing area in Magetan, east Java on Wednesday morning.
Authorities fear death toll could top 100, including among the villagers whose houses were crushed in the incident at about 6am.
Until noon, local media reported the death toll to be between 90 and 100.
An air force spokesman, Bambang Sulistyo, was quoted by the detikcom website as saying that 78 people were confirmed dead and had been taken out of the scene.
The authorities are now identifying the bodies, he added.
Local television stations reported that 15 people survived the incident but sustained injuries including burn injuries. – Bernama
